Babies, Borders and Beck

Glen Beck wants to feed the kids crossing the border illegally, and bring them soccer balls and teddy bears. Is he right or wrong?

According to Breitbart, Glen Beck is bringing food, water, and toys to the thousands of kids stranded in refuge camps after illegally crossing the border. You can read The Blaze article here.

He says:

“Through no fault of their own, they are caught in political crossfire,” Beck said of the children. “And while we continue to put pressure on Washington and change its course of lawlessness, we must also help. It is not either, or. It is both. We have to be active in the political game, and we must open our hearts.”

And for this, he’s supposedly taking a lot of heat, although a quick google search didn’t turn up much.

The thing is, Beck’s right. Sure, this is an effort by progressives in DC to force amnesty. And yes, this is a direct response to the Obama Administration’s immigration policy or lack thereof. And yes, the flood of children across our border is going to place a strain on systems already running near capacity due to the Obama economy.

But none of that matters. These kids are being used as pawns in a struggle they have no part in; that doesn’t make them anything less than they are. They’re kids. Kids who need food, water and shelter. Kids who need to know that somebody cares more about them than politics.

Who is going to do that? The government? Please! Liberal Democrats? Get real!

It’s up to people like us, conservatives who get lambasted all the time for our lack of compassion, our lack of concern for our fellow human being. It’s up to us because we are the only ones who will actually do something. Do you honestly think that Larry Liberal or Polly Progressive is actually going to do anything? Of course not. They’ll wail and moan about how terrible it is, but that’s about it. Meanwhile politicians will do whatever their pollsters calculate will give them the best press, and government bureaucrats will find a way to report that they’ve helped thousands of these kids while doing absolutely nothing.

Or do you think they care more about these kids than they do our own veterans?

No, this one is on us. It doesn’t matter that it was a strategy; it was a successful one. Because if we sit back and say that these children should be deported, and don’t do something to show basic human concern, then we will be the very thing we’ve been accused of for years.

Heartless monsters.

And we have enough of those in the government already.
